IAAF will take care of two athletes and UAF will foot the bills for the remaining ten athletes and three officials on the team.

Uganda Athletics Federation will use the IAAF U18 world championships in Kenya to give the athletes exposure as they prepare for the IAAF U20 world championships on July 10 - 15, 2018 in Finland.

The team of twelve athletes of which nine are boys and three girls, leaves on Sunday by bus to Nairobi Kenya for the event at Moi International Stadium Kasarani.

"We had many athletes who had qualified but resources could not allow us to take all of them so we zeroed on 12 whom we are confident will give us good results," Otucet stated.

"The last time we were in the IAAF U20 championship in Poland, Jacob Kiplimo won a bronze for Uganda and our plan is to win more next time that is why we stretched our treasury to take a good number."
