Office of the Prime Minister is chairing a multi ministerial Local Government Performance Assessment (LG PA) Task Force that has designed the Local Government Performance Assessment Manual as part of the overall Intergovernmental Fiscal Transfer Reforms.

The overall objecti ve of the Local Government Performance Assessment System is to promote eff ecti ve incenti ves and behaviour, systems and procedures of importance for Local Government's effi cient administrati on and service delivery.

The first countrywide LG performance assessment exercise is planned to be conducted from September to December 2017 so that the results:

(i) impact on the allocati on of the development grants for Educati on, Health, Rural Water and Discreti onal Development Equalizati on Grants;
(ii) inform the appointment of LG Accounti ng Offi cers for 2018/19; and
(iii) are used by the Office of the Prime Minister to inform the Government Annual Performance Review (GAPR).

The LG PA Task Force will be conducti ng an orientati on of the LG technical staff and members of the Executive on the LG PA Manual for them to adequately prepare before the LG performance assessment is conducted as per schedule below.
