Olila v Pioneer

Pioneer return to the crease with no sweeping changes on the team unlike their rivals of the day Olila who have since their graduation to the top-drawer in Women's cricket have secured some big names; Gertrude Chandiru, Rachael Ntono to boost a relatively budding side.

Rusty as a result of a long spell without serious training, Barbra Mukankusi and Co can only hope rather than expect a good game against Ivan Kakande's girls who were involved in a shared spoils two game fixture last weekend against giants Tornado Bee.

"The players are involved in commitments elsewhere which has affected our training but positively we haven't seen our players leave which means we have a change of putting ourselves together and play more competitively than last season" said Barbra Mukankusi, captain of  Pioneer.

However, they welcome back some of their old players who have been away from the game for some time. All-rounder Flavia Wanyana returns after her education endeavours in Nigeria.

Relatively an average player, Wanyana is likely to take quite some good time to pick up.

Similarly Katusiime, a former star with Gayaza High School comes back as a peripheral figure with a lot of work to do in order to raise her game. Well, cricket is somewhat an everyday sport where continuous training and exposure counts!

Olila on the other hand are looking to keep their momentum going in a gradual surge towards getting their name echoed among the Women cricket elite. They have surely come a long way; from just participants in the UCA Girls Schools Cricket Week to the National league division two and then an eventual qualification to the top tier after an almost impeccable last season where they won the division two league handily. They are now testing the waters in the top tier!

Gertrude Chandiru and Rachael Ntono, former players with national league defending champions Tornado Bee are expected to put together an inexperienced Olila side. The two proved efficient against Tornado Bee when Ntono featiured well with bat and ball picking some 2 wickets and 18 from 20 balls in the game where  Chandiru was man of the match with scores of 31 not of 41 balls.

As the norm it is this Women cricket season, where the T20 showpiece runs alongside the National league, Nile entertain Tornado at Budo. The game serves as the first for the two teams.
