Kabaka's directive on land to re-unite Baganda, says Nadduli

Nadduli said the programme of registration had received criticism from sections of public and government officers, saying it would deprive sitting tenants their land rights.

The Minister without Portfolio, Abdul Nadduli, has said the directive recently issued by the Kabaka of Buganda Ronald Muwenda Mutebi will re-unite people who had been divided by the controversial Kyapa Mu ngalo campaign.

While addressing people in Kyankwanzi on Saturday, the Kabaka directed Buganda Land board to sensitize the local people on why registration of land and issuing of land title leases by the kingdom was introduced.

Nadduli said the programme of registration had received criticism from sections of public and government officers, saying it would deprive sitting tenants their land rights.

Speaking during the press conference at the Office of Prime Minister in Kampala on Tuesday, Nadduli said there has been lost love for the kingdom. "I expected that after the national anthem was sung, the next was Buganda anthem, but was shocked when people refused to sing it. I knew something urgent had to be done to bring back the lost love and trust in the kingdom," he said.

During the launch of the Kyapa Mu Ngalo campaign on April 18 this year, Mayiga said Kabaka had directed that all fully registered tenants on kingdom land should be given 49-year lease titles
