Dickens Obuku, a 33-year-old pastor with Pure Water Living Ministry based in Kampala is in Police detention for alleged extortion of sh740,000 and two cows from residents of Ngetta Sub County two weeks ago claiming that he will use them for building a church branch in Ngetta.

Obuki's troubled started two weeks ago when a mob almost lynched him after waited to see the construction of promised church branch in vain. He was rescued by Police who used force to disperse the mob.

He reportedly attempted to con a car dealer at Beatro Link Limited in Bar-Ogole in Ojwina Division the following week, pretending to buy but later management realised he had no money to make the purchase.

Odero Morish, a manager at Beatro Link said they reported Obuku to Police after he showed interest in a car but could not pay despite making numerous phone calls that raised suspicion.

Radio Rupiny has leant that a case was reported at Lira Central Police Station prompting Police to search and arrest Obuku from Comboni College in Lira where he lived with his partner who is a teacher at the school.

North Kyoga Police spokesperson, David Ongom Mudong, confirmed keeping Obuku in their custody over receiving money by false pretence.

Ongom however warned members of the public to be vigilant on fake churches and pastors who are bent on extorting money from the public.
