"After the second Vatican Council, many indigenous musicians composed beautiful sacred songs, which improved our ways of worship. Today many of our musicians have slackened a bit. We desire to see more indigenous musicians coming up with new musical projects," Kasibante said.

He made the remarks during the inauguration of St Cecilia Music School at Youth Encounter Saviour Centre, Nsambya, on Wednesday (June 7).

Kasibante called upon the school's stake-holders and all Ugandans to take advantage of the school to learn and popularize classical music.

"I am sure this school will improve the way we use music in the Church and society. We hope that this school will grow into a great institution and contribute to the programmes of the youth department and also, the way music is done in this country. Music needs discipline and perfection. We shall need a good administration and good work ethics."

Kasibante later hailed Gonzaga Mayanja, the vision bearer of the music school project, who also got for the school musical instruments like pianos, violins, guitars and the pipe-organ, through his German friends.  Fr Gonzaga Mayanja studied Organ in Germany, where he also currently does  pastoral work for the Catholic Church.

The Director of YES Centre, Fr Joseph Luzindana was upbeat about the music school.

"This school is an added facility to the many programmes we have in this centre, which include sports, library, counseling services and other progmmes that benefit the youths. We thank our German friends, who have helped us to establish this school for Kampala Archdiocese."

During the function, musicians like Fr Gonzaga Mayanja, Ronnie Nsereko and tenor maestro Andrew Kagumba staged a mini-recital, which excited the guests.
