FUFA WOMEN ELITE LEAGUE

Today's semi-finals at Phillip Omondi Stadium Lugogo

Uganda Martyrs vs UCU (1:30pm)

Kawempe vs Olila (4pm)

KAMPALA - FUFA Women Elite League defending champions Kawempe Moslem have seen four titles slip through their hands in this year's campaign and are now left with only the Elite League title to defend.

First, it was the Mama Baker title that they lost following a 4-3 penalty shootout loss to Ajax Queens in the finals.

Next, another defeat in the Kampala region schools football final at the hands of newcomers Uganda Martyrs Lubaga.

Kawempe then bowed out of the Uganda Cup with after a 1-0 loss to Mutesa Royal University.

Yet that was not all: they were beaten by Mukono High in the Ball Games I girls soccer tournament.

Now the holders are left with the Elite League to play for, and possibly win. But they will have to avoid any slip-ups if they are to successfully defend their title.

They take on high-flying Olila Girls SS in the second semifinal today at Phillip Omondi Stadium Lugogo in Kampala.

"We are automatically looking at this as the only title for us to win and we shall have to make sure we take it home, although all other semifinalists have prepared for us," said Kawempe coach Ayub Khalifa.

Kawempe are fresh from a 9-0 dubbing of Western United in their last Elizabeth group league match on Sunday.

First in the fray will be newcomers Uganda Martyrs Lubaga taking on Uganda Christian University (UCU) at 1:30pm, before Kawempe meet Olila later at 4pm.

The respective winners will qualify for the final slated for this Sunday (June 4) at the same venue at 4pm local time.
