Musician Bobi Wine is expected to get nominated on Wednesday

Upon nomination for the Kyadondo East seat, National Resistance Movement's (NRM) Sitenda Sebalu has promised to conduct the most vibrant campaign rallies ever seen in the constituency where he has been a practicing politician for so long.

Sebalu who was declared a candidate on Tuesday, was accompanied by some members of NRM including former chairperson for Kyadondo East, Mayanja Maswanku and one of his campaign managers Francis Bwenje.

Before being nominated, the newly appointed Wakiso returning officer Francis Nkurunziza examined his academic documents, and verified the recommenders' signatures.

Upon acceptance, Sebalu was asked to pay the sh3m nomination fee which he paid promptly.

"You can begin campaigning on 2nd June, but you have to observe all the rules and regulations" said Nkurunziza.

"Even if Dr Besigye campaigned for all the rest, I'm stronger than Besigye himself. If he wants let him take me on personally instead of rallying behind weak candidates" said Sitenda.

It is not clear if the NRM candidate from the 2016 general elections, Stella Njuba, who also participated in the primaries, will feature in the race.

On Monday, the party secretariat led by secretary general Justine Kasule Lumumba and treasurer Rosemary Namayanja Nsereko tried to reconcile all the factions.

Sulaiman Walusimbi and Sebalu settled their differences but Njuba was not present.

After nominating Sebalu, Nkurunziza said on the second and last day of nominations, 4 or 5 candidates are expected to join the race.

Other members expected get nominated on Wednesday are musician Bobi Wine, Apollo Kantinti, Nkunyingi Muwada, Dr Sewedi Kayongo Male and others.
