The unending season of beetroot makes it available to the market at all time.

According to Jane Nabiryo, a trader at Nakasero market, the nutrious taproot portion of the beet plant grows under all weather: rain or sun.

She says that at Nakasero market, beetroot is measured in kilograms, where a kilogram ranges between sh3, 000 to sh4, 000 and for wholesale, a kilo goes for as low as sh1, 500.

In other markets like Kalerwe, Mpererwe and Matugga, the prices are a bit lower and beetroot is not measured in kilograms.

Ismail Kibirige, a trader at Kalerwe market, says: "We arrange beetroot in heaps of three to four pieces depending on the size".

A heap ranges from sh1, 000 to sh2, 000 respectively.

The price has been constant since last year.

Kibirige says he does not regret venturing in the beetroot business because its demand is high due to its health influence.
