Kiggundu murder: Sheikh Mwanje committed for trial

On November, 26, 2016, Kiggundu was murdered together with his body guard Sgt. Stephen Mukasa in the city suburbs of Masanafu in Lubaga division in Kampala by unknown assailants.

Buganda Road Chief Magistrate's Court has sent four people accused of murdering Maj. Muhammad Kiggundu and his body guard to stand trial.

On November, 26, 2016, Kiggundu was murdered together with his body guard Sgt. Stephen Mukasa in the city suburbs of Masanafu in Lubaga division in Kampala by unknown assailants.

On Monday, state attorney Emilly Ninsiima told court that inquiries in the matter were complete and committal papers were also ready for the purpose of committal.

"Your worship, inquiries in the matter are complete, we pray that the accused be sent to the High Court to stand trial," Ninsiima said.
The court was presided over by Buganda Road Chief Magistrate Jameson Karemani.

On the fateful day, Kiggundu was heading to a local FM radio station, where he was a panellist on a talk show.

According to the indictment signed by Principal state attorney, John Baptist Asiimwe, sheikh Yahaya Mwanje was seen along the Northern by-pass shortly before the deceased was murdered.

Mwanje is battling charges of murder alongside Muhammad Buyondo, Musa Ssekandi and Abdul Wahab Ssendegeya.

They have been to High Court to face trial by Buganda Road court Chief Magistrate Jameson Karemani.

Prosecution alleges that the accused and others still at large on November 26, 2016 at Masanafu trading centre, Rubaga division in the Kampala district murdered Maj. Kiggundu and Sgt. Mukasa.
