Kireka in talks to sign Arthur Ssegwanyi

The club has been in talks with International Master (IM) Arthur Ssegwanyi as they try to strengthen the team

Kireka Chess Club will be looking to defend their title in the 2017 National chess league that starts June 11.

The club has been in talks with International Master (IM) Arthur Ssegwanyi as they try to strengthen the team ahead of the 2017 season.

According to the club captain Ivan Kaddu, the club that is still hope to sign Ssegwanyi, still have to work out a few technical issues before they sign him.

"The decision to have Arthur is yet to be concluded because we are still working out something with the player. However we shall come to a conclusion in about two weeks," said Kaddu.

In 2016, Kaddu's side depended on the services of FIDE Masters (FM) Harold Wanyama and Haruna Nsubuga to clinch their  first league title in ten years.
