The wife to musician Joseph Mayanja aka Jose Chameleone has withdrawn a divorce case against him.

This comes after both parties consented to have the case withdrawn after Elly Kataswa of Nakawa court mediated over the case.

According to reliable sources in the judiciary, the mediation hearings which started about a fortnight ago, were concluded and the couple have agreed to resolve their differences.

The source, who preferred anonymity refused to divulge into the details of the agreement but said Daniel Atim advised Chameleon to reduce on his alcoholic intake.

The case had been previously allocated to Nakawa court Grade One Magistrate Margaret Anyu but it will not proceed.

Through Okurut and Company Advocates, Daniella Atim had filed for divorce at the court, citing assault as the major reason.

She revealed that Chameleone had been molesting her since 2013, without reasonable cause.

Atim disclosed that on several occasions she had been forced to run away and live with friends following the incessant beatings and to seek medical treatment.

"Chameleone has resorted to binge drinking and on each occasion he comes back home beats me without any valid reason," She contended.

Chameleone and Atim were legally married in a ceremony solemnized on June 7, 2008 at Biina Catholic Church in Luzira, a Kampala suburb.

The couple is blessed with four children. They are Abba Mayanja, 11, Alfa Mayanja, 8, Alba Mayanja, 4, and Amma Mayanja, 3.

Atim contended that Chameleon's violent behaviour had affected her health and that she even has sleepless nights, worrying that Chameleon may kill her.

She added that the violent conduct of Chameleone had also affected the children, who are also victims of the beatings.

Atim further complained that her life was in danger because he (Chameleon) had not only threatened to kill her but uses metal bars, sticks and sometimes strangles her.

"I have tried to resolve the matter amicably with Chameleone but in vain," she stated.

She had sought a court order of judicial separation and a protection order, restraining Chameleone from coming near her. Judicial separation is a legal process by which a married couple may formalize separation while remaining legally married.

She also wanted court to issue maintenance orders, custody of the issues of separation and costs of the petition to her.

Efforts to reach both Chameleon and Atim were futile, as the cellphone calls given to them went unanswered.
