Parliament to pay tribute to ex-'president' Wacha Olwol

Wacha Olwol headed the three-man Presidential Commission in 1980.

KAMPALA - Parliament is today expected to hold a special sitting to pay tribute to former 'president' Joel Wacha Olwol who died Tuesday aged 93.

Wacha Olwol headed the three-man Presidential Commission that governed the affairs of the state of Uganda between May 22 and December 15 in 1980 following the overthrow of President Godfrey Binaisa.

The director of communication at parliament, Chris Obore, said that the body of the fallen leader would be brought to parliament at 10am local time and handed over to Deputy Speaker Jacob Oulanyah before lying in state.
 
The body would then be moved into the parliament chambers at 2pm for MPs to pay their tribute to the contribution of Olwol.
