President's Office to auction off cars

The Office of the President is scheduled to conduct a public auction of cars, starting May 18 in Kampala at Sir Apollo Kagwa Road, at 10:30am.

A roadmap of the sale has been issued by Government's official auctioneers, Kamama General Auctioneers. Also to be sold off is office equipment and two motor cycles. However, the notice does not indicate the number of cars to be disposed at the fall of the hammer.

"The public is hereby notified that we shall carry out the auction of the items on as is, where is basis. Neither the entity nor the auctioneers shall have further liability after the sale thereof," the notice also carried in the New Vision Friday April 28, 2017 edition, reads in part.

On Friday May 19, auction will take place at Mpigi Police Station at 10:3am .On Monday May 22, auction will be held in Jinja at 10:30am.

On Wednesday May 24, auction will be held in Mbale at 10:30am. On Friday May 26, auction will be in Moroto at 11:00am. On Monday May 29, auction takes place in Lira at 10:30am. On Tuesday May 30, 2017 auction will be in Otuke at 11:00am.

On June 1,Masindi will have its share, starting 10:30am. The next day Friday June 2, Kitagwenda in Kamwenge will host the public sale starting 2:30pm. On Monday June 5, Bushenyi will host the sale, starting 10:30am.

The notice indicates that terms of the auction shall be in accordance with Uganda's Public Procurement and Disposal of Public Assets Act 2003.

"Sales shall be determined by the fall of hammer to the highest bidder above the reserve value. The highest bidder shall immediately pay 50% of the bid amount and balance shall be paid within 48 working hours from the time of auction," the notice says.

All those intending to take part shall deposit a sh400, 000 participation fee, before May 18. The fee is refundable after the exercise.

Viewing /inspection shall be on Monday May 15, and Tuesday May 16. It will be conducted during office working hours with the guidance of the auctioneers.
