They say the initiative, in its current form, is restrictive.

IN BRIEF

KAMPALA - The National Youth Council wants government to redesign the youth livelihood programme to include funding of individuals who crave to expand their businesses.

The chairperson of the council Lilian Aber said that currently the program only accommodates youth who are in groups of 10-15 people.

She sometimes these might not share the same ideas on how to run the business which she said has resulted into some youth failing to return the money because of poor management.

Aber said the programme should not look at supporting groups of people but instead concentrate on supporting ventures that can bear fruit and have potential to expand.
