Police is holding six people at Kumi Central Police Station in connection to a murder of a 42-year-old man.
Confirming the arrest and detention of the suspects, the regional Police spokesperson for East Kyoga, Michael Odongo, said three of them were arrested on Sunday while others on Monday.
However, Odongo did not disclose the particulars of the suspects saying it will jeopardize investigations into the matter.
According to Odongo, the suspects reportedly attacked Kokas Odele at his residence in Okouba village in Kumi Municipality accusing him of killing their relative, John Kokas Emorut, 17, a resident of the same area.
Emorut's decomposing body was discovered on Saturday at Odelo swamp by residents on their way to Odelo Market.
Emorut is believed to have been murdered by yet to be identified assailants for being in love with Odele's daughter who later dumped his body in the swamp.
Odongo revealed that according to area residents, before the incident, Odele had on several occasions cautioned Emorut to stop the affair with his daughter.
The six currently in custody will be charged over Odele's murder.
He also added that investigations into the death of Emorut are underway.
