Police has arrested a 23-year-old woman for allegedly stabbing her lover to death.

It is alleged that Christine Zalwango had a misunderstanding with her lover Moses Lugemwa, 25, on Saturday night, according to neighbours. Zalwango reportedly picked a knife and stabbed Lugemwa.

The incident took place at their home in Kyebando - Nansana in Wakiso district. The couple had lived together for more than six years and had two children.

Kampala Metropolitan Police spokesperson Emilian Kayima told New Vision that after the incident Zalwango rushed the deceased to Mulago for treatment, but he died on Easter Monday.

Charles Segujja one of the deceased's friend described Lugemwa as a calm man.

Speaking in an interview at Mulago Police Post, Zalwango admitted that they had an argument and claimed it was over Lugemwa's insistence on not using a condom for sex yet he was HIV positive.

"I told him that he should stay with the second wife and I take care of my children," Zalwango said.

She however denied stabbing Lugemwa claiming it was the work of thugs who waylaid him on his way home from a night out.

Zalwango returned to the country early this year from Abu Dhabi where she was working and had planned to go back Monday next week.
