Over 1000 Ugandans get free medical treatment

Over 1000 residents in Wakiso District have received free medical services provided by a team of health workers, from California U.S.A.
 
The Health team led by Dr. David Piester, came a fortnight ago and has been traversing different parts of Wakiso District offering free medical services among which include; dental treatment, HIV testing and counseling, TB screening, male circumcision, malaria treatment, evangelism among others.
 
The team has been coordinating with Hope For Restoration Initiative, a community based organization located at Nkumba, Katabi Town Council.
 
Robert Kigundu who was the overall coordinator and also the CEO of Hope for Restoration Initiative, expressed the need for more outreach programs, describing them as good supplements for the available government health programs.

"We usually give free treatment, sanitary pads and counseling to Entebbe community and people who reside on adjacent islands but whenever we organize these programs, we register a very big turn-up  for example we treated 180patients in Nangobe Village, 386 on Kakyanga Island and 640 in the areas of Nkumba all in Wakiso District," Kigundu explained.

 
During the third and also the last outreach program held on Friday at Nkumba Primary playground, the Katabi town council health inspector Paddy Kakumba applauded the good work done by Hope for Restoration Initiative plus a team of 25 US health workers.

He stated that such programs are very helpful to the people who cannot afford expensive treatment in private hospitals and that it also reduces on the long queue of patients in government hospitals.
 
Other organizations and hospitals which liaised with the CBO in this program, include; Kisubi Hospital, Red Cross, Health Nest Uganda, Calvary Chapel VISTA from U.S.A, Calvary Chapel Entebbe, Tropical Clinic, and Nkumba University Counseling Department among others.
