Derrick Nsibambi's late strike secured a 1-0 victory for league champions KCCA FC over Egyptian side Al Masry in the first leg of the play-off round of the CAF Confederation Cup at Phillip Omondi Stadium on Saturday.

Nsibambi who came off the bench for midfielder Muzamiru Mutyaba put the ball in the back of the net past Al Masry goalkeeper Ahmed Abdelhalm with 94 minutes on the clock.

KCCA were left to rue several missed scoring opportunities with Paul Mucureezi, Geoffrey Sserunkuma and Tom Masiko failing to convert chances as Abdelhalm stood tall.

The victory gave KCCA a slender advantage ahead of the return leg on Saturday in Port Said.

KCCA were pushed to the Confederation Cup after elimination from the CAF Champions League at the hands of defending champions Mamelodi Sundowns of South Africa.

Al Masry got a bye to qualify for the next round after FIFA suspended the Malian Football Federation.

Djoliba from Mali had beaten Al-Masry 2-0 at home in the first-leg.
