The Director of Kampala Music School (KMS), Fred Kiggundu Musoke has asked classical music lovers in Uganda to give moral and financial support to the school, to enable it expand its programmes.

He argued that the school had relied heavily on international donors, which was why it was now important for the native Ugandans to take up sponsorship of the school.

Kiggundu said this during a fundraising concert and dinner organized by the school at Shanghai Restaurant, in Kampala, on Friday.

The concert featured violinist Rachel Ellis (a volunteer from the UK), pianists Job Tezigattwa and pianist Kiggundu Musoke. Upcoming violinists from Mother Kevin Primary school, Kajjansi, also performed.

Kiggundu said that the school had strategic plans to expand and make music education available to everyone. Further to the concert and dinner, there was also an auctioning function, during which about sh5m was raised in cash and pledges.
