Kaberamaido, Amuria, Katakwi, and Soroti are among the most hit in Teso

Following the drought that has persisted in most districts in Teso, the Minister of State for Disaster Preparedness, Musa Ecweru, has challenged government to embark on irrigation especially in districts that are most hit by drought.

He named Kaberamaido, Amuria, Katakwi, Soroti among other districts as the most hit by drought in Teso.

Ecweru said the irrigation scheme will reduce the tendency to give out relief to people since they will be able to engage in productive agriculture.

He is worried that if government does not support farmers through irrigation, hunger may continue to attack the region.

Joseph Eryau the district agricultural officer Kaberamaido said if government can embrace irrigation, the current situation will be averted.
