Kampala trader shot dead in rent demo

A traders' demonstration against rent hike has left one trader dead. The morning incident happened at Superior Complex at Arua Park in Kampala.

According to witnesses, a private security guard attached to SGA shot one of the demonstrating traders.

The traders were dissatisfied over rent hike from sh1.5m to sh2.5m imposed by the landlord, a one Bosco Muwonge.

Central Police Station chief, Joseph Bakaleke, confirmed the incident and urged the traders to resume work.

The security guard is in ‘bad shape' after angry traders pounced on him.
