"I have complaints about the young Police officers involved grabbing people's property," said the Police boss.

The Inspector General of Police Edward Kale Kayihura has urged senior Police officers to desist from greed for wealth. He said there's a public outcry about the misconduct of Police officers involved in different unprofessional activities such as land grabbing, bribery as well as embezzlement of funds.

"I have complaints about the young Police officers involved grabbing people's property," said the Police boss.

Speaking during the pass out of senior Police officers at Police Senior Command and Staff College Bwebajja in Wakiso district on Friday afternoon, Kayihura instead asked them to work hard and acquire wealth genuinely.

"You still have a long way to serve the country, why do you steal? Most of you are still young (below 45 years) and yet more opportunities are coming your way," he said.

The senior Police officers, such as Senior Commissioners of Police, Commissioners of Police and Senior Superintendent Police as well as some army officials from South Sudan and Republic of Somalia, who were passed out were taught intermediate command course that took six months. A total of 74 officers graduated.

Gen. Jeje Odong, the internal affairs minister, who was the chief guest, called for professionalism in the Police and use of community policing to combat the ever advanced crime cases worldwide.

"You must use the acquired skills and knowledge to combat crime, otherwise the six months you have spent while training would be wastage.

Odong narrated how during 1986-1987, such trainings were looked at by some people in communities as punishments, yet training is the basis of the doctrine of security agencies.

"You must secure your country as your contribution. Why do you lie idle in offices when people are being killed," he said.

Among the passed out Police officers was the Kampala East Regional Police Commander, Siraj Bakaleke.
