The Mayuge district police commander, Denis Odoch, identified the suspect as Karim Mutasa, a resident of Bumba Island in Jaguzi sub county, Mayuge district.

Police in Mayuge district have arrested a 52-year-old man for allegedly defiling and infecting his eight-year-old daughter with HIV/AIDS.

The District Police Commander, Denis Odoch, identified the suspect as Karim Mutasa, a resident of Bumba Island in Jaguzi sub county.

Mutasa was arrested on Sunday after his daughter narrated her ordeal to the neighbours who later reported the matter to police.  Odoch said that Mutasa has been allegedly defiling his daughter after his wife separated with him following a misunderstanding.

"Mutasa had threatened to kill the girl if she revealed the secret to anyone," Odoch said.

"He stopped the girl from attending school for fear that she would reveal the secret to her teachers and classmates," Odoch said.

The girl said  the father had been demanding for sex every time he wanted.

Mutasa was arrested by the police and Local Council authorities and was tested for HIV at Mayuge Health Centre III where he tested found HIV positive.

"Both the man and the daughter tested HIV positive," Odoch said.
