New motorcycles, bicycles excite Lira policemen

The motorcycle distribution put smiles on the faces of the beneficiaries. The corps also received 15 bicycles to better the community policing in 13 sub counties in Lira district.

Policemen in Lira on Tuesday distributed 13 new motorcycles that were recently received from Uganda Police Headquarters in Kampala.

The motorcycle distribution put smiles on the faces of the beneficiaries. The corps also received 15 bicycles to better the community policing in 13 sub counties in Lira district.

Bicycles were given to support police posts within and out of town while motorcycle were allocated to police stations and these were all handed to officers in charge (O.C) the police units.

Presiding over the distribution at Lira Central Police station, the District Police Commander, Joel Tubanone warned the officers against using the motorcycles as a form of exposition.

"If you ask any civilian fuel and you are reported we shall charge you with extortion," Tubanone. said

He advised his juniors to make the best use of the motorcycles in way that improves the services to the public

Cadet ASP.Anatolious Kaahwa, the O.C police of Ireda Cumber said the motorcycle he received will help him quickly respond to incidences, transporting suspects to main station as well as patrol among others.
