YMCA tame Nkumba Elites at Lido

Mar 14, 2017

At the beginning of the season, YMCA set a target to reach the final of the 2017 season.

After taming Nkumba Select BSC in the National Beach Soccer League, YMCA BSC coach Emmauel Amegu is optimistic his team is in line to achieve its target this year.

At the beginning of the season, YMCA set a target to reach the final of the 2017 season and to achieve it, the team secured Allan Zirimenya, Allan Katwere, Douglas Muganga and Faisal Muwawu from Nkumba Select.

The YMCA beach soccer team is up there after beating the Entebbe reigning champions last Sunday.

And coach Emmanuel Amegu is delighted by their form.

They hope to win their remaining games against lowly Talented BSC and Dalumba International to finish top of Hurikken Group.

"Our target is to play in the final this season. We are virtually in the playoffs already and our target is not far," Amegu said after the game in which YMCA beat Nkumba Select 6-4.

Even without experienced Katwere and Muganga, Ambrose Naturinda and Hakim Semakula notched braces while Muwawu picked before they forced an own goal to seal 6-4 victory at Lido Beach.

Nkumba Select failed to keep their composure and kept attacking referees which energized their opponents against them. Nonetheless Nkumba's Rica Byaruhanga scored a brace and Ronald Mutebi also gifted with two own goals.

In the other game Uganda Beach Soccer League organisers were left with no option but to award Muteesa Royal University three points and three goals after Dalumba International failed to raise substitutes and walked off the pitch.

St Lawrence University BSC was the biggest goals harvester of the day with a 12-3 goal margin against Ms Sand Lions.

Emma Kalyowa continued to top the scorers list with six goals against the Lions to his name.

Swalleh Kiggundu picked a hattrick while Maurice Luyima got a brace before the Kajab Okello gifted St Lawrence with an own goal.
