In abid to create awareness in the country, Uganda Badminton Association (UBA) has decided to train journalists under the  Uganda Sports Press Association (USPA) ahead of the Uganda International tournament that starts on Thursday at Lugogo.

The training workshop was held in Kampala and was facilitated by Sahir Edoo, the Confederation of Africa Badminton Operations Manager.

UBA CEO Simon Mugabi said that the training is meant to sensitize the media who are the mouth piece of the federation.

"Sensitizing the media helps us promote the sport and also eases the journalist's work because he or she is aware of the technicalities of the sport," Mugabi explained.

Edoo urged UBA to invest more in schools as one way of promoting the sport in the country.

"If we are to make badminton popular, we have to invest in schools and teach teachers how to play the sport," Edoo stated.

He explained that this will help to develop talent at a tender age.
