Education minister and First Lady, Janet Museveni, has hailed the Confucius Institute at Makerere University for preparing children who are ready to make an impact in the job market.

The Institute trains Chinese language and culture to Ugandan students at an affordable cost.

In her speech delivered by Kampala minister Beti Kamya during the celebration to mark the institute's second anniversary in Uganda on Saturday, Museveni was concerned about the students produced, the way they are taught and their readiness to solve the challenges the country faces.

"We know that many graduates join the job market every year with degrees from the various tertiary institutions in Uganda. In fact next week, thousands will graduate and join a job market for which they are not properly prepared" Museveni said in the speech.

"It is true that the government has to create favourable environment for job creation but each and every one must assume their responsibility as government does the same" she said before hailing the Chinese government  who will be giving them teachers  to ensure quality instructions as Uganda prepares their teachers.

Kamya on her part was excited about the institute, calling upon the people around Makerere to use the opportunity and get affordable education in the Chinese language as provided by the institution.

Chinese ambassador to Uganda Zheng Zhuqiang promised continued support to Uganda in issues that embrace good working relationships, including in the institute that has already taught Chinese to over 1000 students.
