Valentine's Day is here. It may not be a public holiday, but that will not dampen many people's moods, not everyone will be breaking a sweat today though. So which part of the country is Valentine's Day least popular in?

There are more Ugandans in the north who believe Valentine's Day is not worth the hullabaloo than those who share similar sentiments in other regions of the country, according to an Ipsos poll.

49% of Ugandans in the north think the day is overrated, followed by the east at 42%, the west at 40% and the central at 30%.

In stark contrast, more Ugandans in the central region attach importance to Valentine's Day than those in other regions of the country. At 68%, the region leads the west (59%), east (58%) with the north last at 50%.

In general, the poll found that 61% of Ugandans attach importance to Valentine's Day.

Thinking of what gift to buy your valentine of this day? Well, the poll shows that 25% of Ugandans prefer clothing, followed by 18% who would love to receive flowers on the day of lovers.

Who should buy the gifts? Conforming to society's notion that men are providers, 50% of the respondents believe men should give more on Valentine's Day.

More women (55%) believe that men should actually be the ones to give gifts as compared to man (17%) who claimed that women should give to women.

Valentine's Day is celebrated every year on February 14th. The day's roots date as far back as the 5th century.
