The increasing problems and suffering among Ugandans is because of lack of faith, according to Bishop Charles Martin Wamika of Jinja diocese.

"Many get problems because they no longer have faith in their lives, and some get something small and end up killing themselves," he said.

"We do not know where this world is heading to after people losing faith and start behaving badly in public.

"If people continue to lose faith in their lives many bad things will continue to happen in this world, which leads many people to do ill to others."

Wamika told hundreds of Christians that the world still needs a lot of prayers. This was at St. Padre-Pio Parish along Entebbe road in Wakiso district on Sunday at the parish's 3rd anniversary celebrations.

Ugandans were also urged to forgive one another.

At the same occasion, Wamika lauded the Kampala Archdiocese for creating several parishes to bring pastoral services closer to the people.

He advised Christians to continue moving together as God's people to develop their parish.

The prelate also called upon Christians to treat well the priests sent to serve them because "they are also human being, they come from families like you".

He was assisted by second Vicar of Kampala Archdiocese and chaplain of MUBS, Msgr Dr. Lawrence Ssemusu, Parish Priest Fr Francis Sseguya, head of Superior of Capuchin Friars (Fathers) in Uganda, Fr Godwin Ogan, Fr Stephen Muyanja from Kisubi Minor Seminary, among others.

The function was graced by High Court judge Justice Joseph Mulangira, who is a parishioner, Charles Sserunjogi of KCCA, who is parish head of laity, Dr Joseph Mpungu, and more.

Christians fundraised for the sh250m priests' house already under construction, but still requires sh193m for completion. Some 200 bags of cement were collected towards the noble cause.
