The Senior Presidential Advisor for Special Operations and out-going commander of the Special Forces, Maj. Gen. Muhoozi Kainerugaba has this afternoon handed over command to his successor, Col. Don Nabasa, who will oversee the office in an acting capacity.

Maj. Gen. Kainerugaba was at the helm of the Special Forces Command for about seven years. He was redeployed in the recent changes announced by President Yoweri Museveni.

UPDF historical, Gen. Elly Tumwine, presided over the handover ceremony at the SFC headquarters in Entebbe. The UPDF Chief of Defense Forces, Gen. David Muhoozi, the commander of the Air force, Maj. Gen. Charles Lutaaya and the Air Defence Commander, Maj. Gen. Gervas Mugyenyi were among the guests who graced the occasion.

Gen. Kainerugaba gave a list of achievements and successes recorded during his tenure as commander. These include major infrastructure projects such as accommodation units for the soldiers, training and equipment that transformed the Special Forces Command into a formidable force.

Col. Don Nabasa thanked Kainerugaba for the mentorship.

Gen. Tumwine said he was happy that young officers were now taking over army leadership, which he said had been the core mission of the NRA/NRM revolution. He encouraged the officers to have faith and not to fear challenges because they had the backing of the appointing authority, senior leaders, their subordinates and the people of Uganda.
