Entebbe Club introduces Singleton Challenge

Entebbe Club opens the new season with yet another innovation for golfers, as over 150 are engaged in the first round of the newly introduced Singleton Challenge.

The first of its kind, the Singleton Challenge, which will be played on a match play four-ball-better-ball format, has already attracted 124 players (62 pairs).

The six-month long challenge will be held in a series of tournaments that will be held every month.

The winning pair from every month will advance to the challenge finale in June. The winning pair stands a chance to win a trip to the 146th British Open in Scotland in 2018.

According to Entebbe Club vice chairman Oscar Semawere, the Johnnie Walker-sponsored tournament will also have other golfers not drawn getting involved in the action on the day for a chance to win other prizes in their respective Groups; A, B, C for men, and A and B for women, on top of other side bets prizes for the longest drive and nearest to the pin prizes for both genders.

"Creating this kind of special mode of play will not only attract golfers to play in Entebbe, but also extend brand credibility for the Singleton. We expect a minimum of 150 players every tournament each month," said Semawere.

"Entebbe Club is delighted to host this series and Singleton has promised loads of fun to the golfers. Singleton is working with Entebbe Club to promote the game of golf by encouraging golfers to play on courses out of Kampala."

In some of the games lined up, Paul Ojambo and Tony Katamba will take on the pair of David Ssekitoleko and John Kasangaki as Serwano Walusimbi and Paul Katuramu entertain Allan Muhereza and Moses Masiko.

Other interesting match-ups include Kiryowa Kiwanuka and Elly Mukasa taking on Sam Byaruhanga and Sam Sejjaka as well as the Peace Kabasweka and Sheila Kesiime battle against Max Byenkya and Gloria Mbaguta.

In the four-ball-better-ball format, teams of two each compete against each other with the better of the two players' scores for each hole, counting.
