The bishop of Fort Portal diocese Robert Muhirwa has said that Jesus' birth was intended to bring joy to the world by liberating, renewing and transforming everyone.

In his summon at Virika Cathedral on Christmas day, Muhirwa said that where Jesus is born, peace is born too.

"The born Christ is indeed our savior. Let us conduct ourselves as a liberated, transformed, renewed and rejuvenated people of God," Muhirwa said.

"Let us rejoice in the day of our salvation," he added.

The Bishop said that where peace is born, there is no longer room for hatred and war.

"We also pray for peace agreement among the peoples of Rwenzori region that dialogue may lead to a strengthened common commitment to the building of civil societies animated by a sincere spirit of reconciliation and of mutual understanding," he stressed.
