Kisoro people living in Kampala re-union this weekend

According to the association chairman, Edgar Nimpa Mfite, it's through this gathering that the Bafumbira will identify the socio-economic problems facing their home area and forge a way forward.

This Sunday December 18 will see a number of people who hail from Kisoro but live in Kampala through their association, Bafumbira world gather at Mitra Square Lugala to celebrate their cultural and Bafumbira unity.

According to the association chairman, Edgar Nimpa Mfite, it's through this gathering that the Bafumbira will identify the socio-economic problems facing their home area and forge a way forward.

Mfite said the association wants to introduce health insurance loan scheme for the elderly.

"The target age is 65 years and above. Most elderly people in rural areas are unable to get quality medical services," said Mfite.

Mfite also said the ceremony will include team building activities.

"It's always a good idea to acknowledge the contribution of elderly in shaping the morals of the young generation," Mfite added.

Kisoro is home to some of the country's outstanding personalities including Philemon Mateke, the state minister for regional cooperation, the Inspector General of Police Kale Kayihura, tycoon Tom Mugenga, Augustus Cesar Mulenga the proprietor St. Augustine International Universities among many others.

It's also the tourist destination with the world's rare animals, the mountain gorillas.

Assistant Commissioner of Prisons Hillary Bisanga, Alex Resida a Senior Advocate of the courts of Judicature of Uganda among others have confirmed their attendance to the function.

Movie director and actress Sarafina Mujawimana has also confirmed her attendance.
