“We are coming back in action with Ponsiano on Boxing Day."

Former national rally champion Ponsiano Lwakataka will return in cockpit with his renowned navigator George Ssemakula in the Champions Sprint on Boxing Day at Festino Cite in Mukono.

"We are coming back in action with Ponsiano on Boxing Day to battle the top crews leading the Sprint Championship," said Ssemakula on Tuesday.

This was in Mukono during the launch of the event which closes the Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU).

The event will cover a total distance of 6km and will be a double circuit, with two cars paired at once after the motocross event that will be the curtain-raiser of the day.

Ronald Ssebuguzi leads the sprint championship followed by Jas Mangat and Duncan Mubiru.

The overall winner will take a bull, on top of the trophies, while the second, third, women, and veterans category winner will take home a goat as prize on trophies.

The event organized by Southern Motorsport Club will also see the return of former sprint champion Shafik Ssemujju.
