It will be the first time that the Sand Cranes play Tanzania

The Uganda Sand Cranes left Kampala on Tuesday heading to Dar es Salaam, where they expect to play their Tanzanian counterparts in an international beach soccer friendly match on Friday.

The contingent of 20 players, officials and fans braving the 35 hour journey by road, left by Modern Coast bus and are expected to arrive in Dar es Salam late on Thursday before the game the following day.

FUFA withdrew the Sand Cranes from Africa Championship qualifiers against Egypt last May citing financial constraints.

It will be the first time that the Sand Cranes play Tanzania but the team has traveled and played select teams in Mombasa, Kenya and Malindi, Zanzibar before.

At the local scene this weekend is the fourth edition of the Corporate Beach Soccer championship where over 20 companies expect to challenge for the annual trophy at Lido beach on Saturday.
