NCS clears six more associations to operate

Nov 15, 2016

Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) is yet to comply with the regulations

National Council of Sports (NCS) on Tuesday cleared six more federations and associations to legally manage their respective sports disciplines.

Federation of Uganda Basketball Association (FUBA), Uganda Ludo Association, Uganda Taekwondo Federation, Uganda Hockey Association, Uganda Rollball Association and Uganda Ultimate Frisbee Association were cleared and issued certificates to operate as legally recognized bodies.

The six new national bodies bring the total of legally recognized national sports bodies to 28.

Missing on the list include Federation of Uganda Football Association (FUFA) and Uganda Weightlifting Association (UWA) which have not completed the process of compliance with NCS regulations.

Others are Zurkhaneh, Squash Rackets, Gymnastics, Kayaking, Judo, Dragon, Shooting, Rowing, Sailing and the Wresting federations.

FUFA has applied for clearance but are still undergoing the process as there is a rival group which has applied for the same licence.

All those associations which did not clear with NCS did not attend the workshop because they were not invited for it.

NCS chairman Bosco Onyik, head of association/federations verifications committee and NCS general secretary, Nicholas Muramagi, all said that they cannot recognize or support any sports body that is not part of the 28.
