Vilma Acheing snatched a game-high 27 points and 15 rebounds as the UCU Lady Canons swept A1 Challenge a side in the best-of-five semi-finals Sunday at Lugogo.

Judith Nansobya added 17 points for the defending champions, who whipped A1 80-57 to make the National Basketball League Finals for the eighth straight season.

Nansobya told New Vision that the series victory over A1 was hard earned, right from the first game.

"A1 has been a tough team to play against due to their experienced players, something that we don't have in most of our players,"Nansobya said.

"So making it to the finals did not come on a silver plate, it was a combination of hard work and teamwork."

UCU will now wait for the KCCA Leopards or JKL Dolphins, who are locked in a stiff semi-finals battle that is currently 2-1 in favour of the former.

Grace Wanjiku scored a game-high 19 points but it was not enough to save JKL from a 53-50 loss to the Leopards, who were led by Martha Soigi (14pts) and Muhayi Namuwaya (seven points and 14 rebounds).

In the men's games Jimmy Enabu scored a game high 22 points for the Oilers to return to the finals while UCU's Brian Namake and Steven Wundi scored 21 and 16 points respectively but didn't stop the Oilers from claiming their victory.

Kami Kabangu and Landry Ndikumana added 21 and 13 points respectively to eliminate the UCU Canons in a 4 point lead to make their fourth
 appearance for the season.

City Oil will have to face KIU or Power who are still in a semi-final scuffle now at a 2-1 lead in favour of Power.
