Fred Wanzala who last month won the JBG Open on the same course and was looking for a sixth victory this year finished third overall, two strokes below the leaders.

Another sudden death play-off came into play as Phillip Kasozi topped the professionals' category of the Entebbe Open at Entebbe Club on Friday.

Kasozi beat Denis Anguyo on the 18th hole after a three-hole sudden death play-off, on holes 10, 17 and 18 to claim the biggest share of sh10m prize money.

Going into the decisive round, Anguyo had opened up a four-stroke lead with a four-under-par 67 but slipped in the second and decisive round with three-over-par 74 that allowed Kasozi who opened with level 71 to square it out with him on 141 gross.

Fred Wanzala who last month won the JBG Open on the same course and was looking for a sixth victory this year finished third overall, two strokes below the leaders.

Deo Akope in fourth ensured the 'home boys' don't miss out on the cash finishing two strokes ahead of Herman Mutaawe. Entebbe Club golfers Vincent Byamukama and George Olayo also made the cut in 6th and 7th place respectively.

Ronnie Bukenya, who won the event as an amateur last year and Kilembe Golf Club's Happy Robert also, will partake on the cash, as Robert Oluba and Henry Lujja who were among the top ten in the first round, miss out.

During the Kakira Open last month, professional golfers Vincent Byamukama and Fred Wanzala were only separated after a seven-hole sudden death play-off which ended with the former on top.
