Professional golfer Denis Anguyo registered an opening round four-under-par 67 to set himself on course to win the biggest share of sh10m at the Entebbe Open.

Phillip Kasozi is chasing from third place on 71 going into the final round today, while home boys Vincent Byamukama who recently topped the Kinyara Open is tied in fourth with Herman Mutaawe on 73 gross.

Other Entebbe bred golfers George Olayo, Deo Akope and Peter Ssendaula are tied in 5th place in the 36-hole competition that ends today.

With last year's champion Ronnie Bukenya having turned pro, the championship is now open for a new winner from a strong field of golfers from different clubs across the country.

The tournament provides an opportunity for the likes of Ashiraf Bagalana, Herman Mutebi and Godfrey Nsubuga and a host of budding golfers from Jinja, Kampala, Lugazi and Toro Clubs to stump their names in the record books.
