Hadijjah Nammanda eyes UVF presidency

Despite the current chaos, Hadijjah Nammanda hopes to be the first female president of Uganda Volleyball Federation (UVF).

She confirmed to New Vision  that she is interested in the seat regardless of the current volleyball situation in Uganda.

Nammanda is the second vice president to outgoing president Sadik Nasiwu and she is the first person to come out about the forthcoming elections.

Nammanda believes that if given the chance as Uganda Volleyball Federation president in January, 2016, she can sort out the current impasse in the game.

"I have told a few people about my interest to contest for the UVF presidency and I hope to talk to the president (Nasiwu) about my plan for the next four years. But he is aware because I had talked to him long time ago when I got to UVF," Nammanda said.

KAVC as a club is however, divided over whether or not to allow Nammanda to contest for the UVF presidency arguing that the current impasse where clubs have ganged up against them is because Nasiwu is from KAVC.

It started when over 10 men's volleyball clubs ganged up against Uganda Volleyball Federation (UVF) and abandoned the men's 2016 National Championships at the quarterfinal stage.

They accused UVF of 'conniving' with KAVC to allow player Daudi Okello to feature for the club contrary to the rules.

"KAVC may not like the idea but as an individual I believe I can add something to the federation especially in the next four years. We should accept that maybe all of us (UVF and club officials) made mistakes that has got the game here but we should forgive ourselves and move on," Nammanda said.

She is expected to compete for the position with outgoing UVF treasurer Joseph Odong, who is also due to declare his intentions soon.
