The National Resistance Movement (NRM) executive committee of Jinja district has suspended the Vice Chairman Majidu Dhikusooka over allegations of theft of sh20m and misallocation of sh5m.

This was on Tuesday during a meeting that was presided over by the party chairperson Nathan Igeme Nabeta and Kato Kaziba the secretary general at their office in Jinja.

It was attended by members of the main stream, chairpersons of leagues, NRM LC3 chairpersons and chairpersons of Jinja municipality.

Kaziba explained that the sh 20m was swindled from Brenda Gimbo a patient who is supposed to undergo brain tumor operation in India. While the sh5m was meant to organize various meetings in Jinja district during the campaign times.

"We as the executive have agreed to suspend the vice chairperson of his duties for two weeks until the investigations into the two allegations are completed, we shall give a detailed report and thus action will be taken," he said.

He further explained that the acts of the vice chairperson had tarnished the party's name.

Dhikusooka with another NRM diehard from Wankole district during Independence Day in Luuka district petitioned President Yoweri Kaguta asking for sh110m under the save Gimbo Brenda Bukenya campaign.

However in reply the president agreed to fully fund the treatment and hospital costs for Gimbo.

According to Nabeta he said police had opened up investigations into the allegations and that also as a party they want to come up with their own findings for the money to be returned.

Dhikusooka told the meeting that he will write a detailed report about the allegations as investigations go on.

A committee headed by the chairperson with six other member was instituted to conduct investigations.
