The feature of 76 primary seven candidates of Kitgum Matidi Primary School in Kitgum district hangs in the balance after the school's head teacher embezzled money meant to pay for their requirements to sit Primary Leaving Examinations (PLE).
Agee Mathias Kisembo allegedly swindled funds that pupils contributed to pay for Form X, identity cards and passport photos.
He is alleged to have mismanaged over sh912,000.
Kitgum Matidi sub county LC3 chairperson Kenneth Oketayot Aroo said the pupils had not received the requirements yet it is mandatory to have them before sitting for PLE.
Deputy Kitgum CAO Thompson Obong said pupils locked up the head teacher in his house before parents, sub county and district leaders intervened to calm the situation after pleading with the candidates not to harm the head teacher.
By press time, the deputy head teacher of the school had travelled to the Uganda National Examinations Board headquarters in Kampala to work out a way forward.
