Maid killed, two arrested

Oct 20, 2016

Two suspects, among them a former employee (maid) identified as Prossy Namawejje and her accomplice John Keke have been picked by police.

When Fiona Nakyanzi's employers returned to their home in Katale village in Kyengera on Wednesday evening, their 18-year old house help (maid), was lying on the floor unconscious with property in the house shattered.

The family said on enquiring, the Katale Police post officials who were the first respondents, confirmed that Nakyanzi had been strangled and killed, as security operatives launch the hunt for the killers.

"Nakyanzi's employer, Moses Kasule, a spare parts dealer in Kampala, arrived moments later and found his long serving (14 months) maid dead," the deputy Kampala Metropolitan Police Spokesperson Paul Kangave, told New Vision, stressing that all occupants of the home and neighbours have recorded statements to help the Police trace the chain of activities leading to what they suspect to be organised crime.

Two suspects, among them a former employee (maid) identified as Prossy Namawejje and her accomplice John Keke have been picked  by police. The suspects are detained over murder charges at Nsangi Police Station as investigations are still on-going.

The suspects, Kangave said were arrested on allegations that they routinely gossiped around Katale trading centre that Kasule kept millions of shillings in the house.

"Nakyanzi's killers, first tied her hands with ropes and stuffed a cloth in her mouth and strangled her, thereafter, the goons conducted a search for money in the three bedroomed house by breaking all property in the house," Kangave said.

Kangave remained cagey on whether the killers discovered the loot. By press time, her body was still at Mulago Hospital for postmortem. Relatives gathered at the deceased's in Katale Village in Wakiso district to prepare for burial.
