Justine Ligyalingi Snr was labeled a father of cricket

The death of two cricket heavyweights Justine Ezra Ligyalingi Snr and Christopher Azuba has unquestionably left a vacuum in the cricket fraternity, but one thing is for sure their legacies live on at least through the different personalities that went through their hands.

For the people who closely worked with them, life will never be the same again.

"Azuba contributed a lot to the professionalization of cricket in the country. At least I thank God I lived during his time. He will forever be missed" said former national cricket team manager Robert Kisubi.

He added that Ligyalingi was beyond just an instructor who groomed a lot of talent but a "father" of cricket in Jinja.

Ligyalingi Snr fathered a number of players in Jinja who have become successful cricketers; Hamza Saleh, Arthur Kyobe, Fred Isabirye and Emmanuel Isaneez among others.

"He was simply special, loved every one and without him, cricket would have been nothing in Jinja. We have just lost a father in cricket" said Saleh.

For Justine Ligyalingi Jnr, the bereaved Uganda Cricket Association CEO, he describes his parents as "best friends" on a post on social media.

"The two best friends have gone to meet the lord" he said.
