The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda said they aren't fit to serve

The Archbishop of the Church of Uganda Rev. Stanley Ntagali has rebuked a section of Canons from West Ankole Diocese for dragging him to court.

The Canons challenging Ntagali's power to set up a committee charged with the responsibility of selecting suitable clergy to be elected as the next Bishop of West Ankole Diocese.

Last week the High Court in Kampala halted the Archbishop's committee until the main application of the Canons questioning his powers is disposed of.

Ntagali who was speaking at the 9th Graduation Ceremony of Mengo Hospital School of Nursing said that all the Canons who dragged him to court are just greedy and seeking to cause disunity in the Diocese which they will not achieve by any means.

"Some Canons decided to challenge my authority. It's like the councillors in a district challenging the authority of the President of Uganda; can you imagine?" Ntagali said.

Ntagali added that Article 9 of the constitution of the Church of Uganda gives him full authority to control all the 35 Dioceses which are in the Province of the Church of Uganda and he cannot be challenged by any person.

"The Church uses grace and they should be removed from being Canons because they are not fit to be Canons" he added.
