And for you to achieve your dreams, you must do four things, that is manage your time well, do not be lazy, be honest and think before you act

Freshers do you understand your roles as students? Do you also know your responsibilities?

These are the questions the Chief Guest asked the new students of Uganda College of Commerce (UCC) Soroti during the fresher's party held at the college's campus on Friday evening.

According to the Soroti district LC5 boss, Girigori Mikairi Egunyu, students are supposed to attend lectures in time, aim high, keep the college clean, have confidence and goodwill.

"If you are doing a diploma, discuss what grade you want to get, 1st class, second upper, but do not come here to create problems," Egunyu said.

He said for one to become successful in life, he or she has to do three things for the good of themselves and those coming after them: "Have a home, workplace, and project or fallback position," he said.

He also challenged them to be members who are accepted in society when they get jobs.

"Accepted means you must be amiable, confident, committed, efficient, progressive, trusted, effective and descent," he said.

"And for you to achieve your dreams, you must do four things, that is manage your time well, do not be lazy, be honest and think before you act," Egunyu added

He also cautioned the students against accepting freebies from people saying they will put their lives into danger.

The freshers' party provides a chance for the new and nervous students create friendships with each other, their seniors and college staff.

The ceremony was characterized with lots of cultural performances, ushering in Mr. and Mrs. Fresher, fashion show, dancing, prayers and eating.
