Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA) has started working on Opot Bridge that links Amuria and Abim districts.

The road has not been passable for close to three weeks after Opot Bridge near Obalanga town board collapsed.

Many road users especially motorists have been passing through Oditel trading centre up to Apeduru sub county so as to reach Amuria town, Obalanga town board or Abim district.

The district leadership of Amuria is grateful that UNRA has come in to repair the bridge.

Robert Okitoi Erisat the Amuria district chairperson said the bridge can now be crossed by vehicles but it is expected to be officially opened in a week's time.

"We expect the bridge to improve because UNRA is putting metals on its sides," Okitoi said.
