Uganda's contingent will be made of four teams

East African Baseball & Softball Championships (6-11 December)

Expectations are high as Uganda prepares to send over forty players to the inaugural edition of the East African Baseball and Softball Championships due December in Kenya.

The tournament comes as a result of Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda forming a regional umbrella body that is expected to raise the standard of the game, suggesting more regional competitions.

The move couldn't come at a better time after the IOC returned baseball and softball to the Olympic program.

Uganda's contingent will be made of four teams; two U19 baseball and softball teams as well as two baseball and softball senior teams for the five day tournament.

"We are looking forward to the tournament though we have a big task of raising sh50m to cater for the players' welfare, participation fees, transport, medical cover among others" Uganda Baseball Association chairman Dennis Kasozi said.

In the collective however, Uganda's players will also use the competition as preparation for upcoming events especially the 2017 Men's World Softball Championships in Whitehorse, Canada where they are to face some of Softball's heavyweights.
