Museveni opens 24th International Trade Fair

A total of 1350 exhibitors are taking part in this year's exhibition, with a special section for agribusiness exhibition and more than 240,000 visitors are expected to attend.

President Museveni has officially opened this year's international trade fair that kicked off on the 3rd of this month ending 10th October.

He called on manufactures to be more creative and innovative so as to find market for their products both in regional and international markets.

"If regional markets like S.Sudan, DR.Congo are having conflicts, you export to Europe, china and the USA because we already have trade agreements with these countries to sale our products duty free," said Museveni.

The fair under the theme "Empowering Women Parity in Manufacturing" is aimed at drawing the attention to the under representation of women in manufacturing.

What's New at this year's trade fair?

In the agriculture section, Greening environment technologies a private company promoting fruit tree growing is selling a variety of fruit tree seedlings.

This is aimed at making it easy for people to access quality seedlings so as to increase fruit growing for health living and income generation.

 

 

Common fruit tree seedlings include Improvedguavas,casteredapples,Pomegranatae,Strawberry,Passion fruits, Grafted mangoes,Jackfruit,Tangarine among others.

 

Manufacturing

 


In manufacturing, mesha steel a woman owned steel factory is displaying a variety of barbed wires having gained experience while working with Sembule Steel Company that is now seeking a government bailout.

In Plastics, Nice house of plastics has come up with new set of chairs, called expression collection. This is includes new make of chairs, that can be used for parties, in cafes, in living rooms, among others in addition to the normal plastic products.

Mukwano group is exhibiting their fortified flour called Shibe and a variety of oils from Uganda's oil seeds such as soya beans and sunflower. A total of 1300 exhibitors are at the show, and over 240,000 visitors,among others.
